Sri Lanka, [a] historically known as Ceylon, [b] and officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, is an island country in South Asia. It lies in the Indian Ocean , southwest of the Bay of Bengal , separated from the Indian peninsula by the Gulf of Mannar and the Palk Strait .
Based upon a true story, [9] the film was shot on locations in Sri Lanka and Germany. The inspiration came from the actual case of the 2004 incident, [10] where a fake Sri Lankan national handball team tricked its way into a German tournament, lost all of their matches, and subsequently vanished.
Aba is a 2008 Sinhalese film directed by Jackson Anthony and co-produced by Justin Belagamage and Rajindra Jayasinghe for Chandrakini Creations. The title is derived from Pandu Aba, another name for the title character.
Aba, also became the most expensive film produced in Sri Lanka costing over 60 million Rupees to produce as well as being the first Sri Lankan film to be finished via Digital Intermediate technology. Several other countries such as China , Italy and Australia have shown interest in screening this film after its trailer was released.
