The Chilote mythology or Chilota mythology is formed by the myths, legends and beliefs of the people who live in the Chiloé Archipelago, in the south of Chile.This mythology reflects the importance of the sea in the life of Chilotes.

Chilo was originally called Mechanicsburgh, and under the latter name was platted in 1816. [6] A post office called Mechanicsburg was established in 1819. [7] The village's name was changed to Chilo in 1820 by an act of the Ohio Legislature. [8]
