Flint Community Schools is a school district headquartered in Flint, Michigan, United States.Its boundary includes almost all of the city limits. [1]For the 2011-2012 school year, the Flint Community Schools had both middle schools, four elementary schools and one high school placed in the bottom 5% of all schools in the State of Michigan based on student achievement and attendance. A 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m) playmaker out of the University of Michigan, Turner averaged 14.7 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists in 85 games from 1981–82 through 1983–84 and was a three-year starter.
Founded in 1923 by the City of Flint Board of Education, Flint Junior College held classes in Flint Central High School. [2] In 1920, the school district purchased the Old Grove sanitarium plus 60 adjacent acres in 1920. [3] With increased enrollment in the high school and junior college, the college moved in 1931 to the Oak Grove Campus. [2]
Atwood Stadium opened on June 8, 1929, and was named after Edwin W. Atwood who donated a portion of the site for the stadium. From 1930 through 1976 the Annual Football game between Flint Central High School & Flint Northern High School was played on Thanksgiving Day and drew attendance in the tens of thousands of people.

Washington attended Flint Northern High School until 10th grade, when it was discovered that he lived outside of the school's boundaries. Losing a semester of athletic eligibility, Washington was forced to transfer to a rival school, Flint Central High School .
