St Andrew's College, also known as StAC, in Christchurch, New Zealand, is a private, co-educational school that enrols from pre-school to secondary Year 13. It was founded in 1917 and it is the only independent, co-educational primary and secondary school in New Zealand's South Island .
Since the founding of the school in 1929, St. Andrew’s has been a boarding school that meets 100% of demonstrated need. In 2020-2021, student tuition cost was $62,150 for the 2021–2022 school year, with 47% of students receiving some form of financial aid. St. Andrew's granted approximately $7.2 million in financial aid in 2022–2023, with a grant average of $49,102.
The St Andrew's College Act 1998 [1] replaced the St Andrews Incorporation Act 1867. This change means the Principal may be member of the laity and the religious affiliation of councillors has been broadened to include all Protestants. Adam Thompson became the first Principal of St Andrew's in 1872.
