Use {{Italic title}} to italicize the part of the title before the first parenthesis. Use {{Italic disambiguation}} to italicize the part of the title in the parenthesis. Use the {{DISPLAYTITLE:}} magic word or {{Italic title|string=}} template for titles with a mix of italic and roman text, as at List of Sex and the City episodes and The Hustler.

Minor works (and any specifically titled subdivisions of italicized major works) are given in double quotation marks not italics, even when the title is not in English. (For details, see § When not to use italics.) These cases are well-established conventions recognized in most style guides.
Check the template documentation for any infobox used on the page; it may have instructions about how to deal with italic titles. You may be able to adjust the italics from the infobox instead of using {{Italic title}} at the top of the article. Or if that does not work, you may be able to disable the infobox's italics code altogether.
Use of italics should conform to Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Text formatting § Italic type. Do not use articles (a, an, or the) as the first word (Economy of the Second Empire, not The economy of the Second Empire), unless it is an inseparable part of a name (The Hague) or of the title of a work (A Clockwork Orange, The Simpsons).
Bold text is stylistically offset from other text without conveying extra importance. The most common use of boldface is to highlight the article title, and often synonyms, in the lead section. Do not use bold text for emphasis. Use ''' to open and close bold text.
Use italics when italics would be used in running text; for example, ... the titles of books, films, and other creative works ... are italicized both in ordinary text and in article titles. Italic formatting cannot be part of the actual (stored) title of a page; adding single quotes to a page title will cause those quotes to become part of the URL, rather than affecting its appearance. A title or part of it is made to appear in italics with the use of the DISPLAYTITLE magic word or the {{Italic title}} template.
