A bunkhouse is a barracks-like building that historically was used to house working cowboys on ranches, or loggers in a logging camp [1] in North America.As most cowboys were young single men, the standard bunkhouse was a large open room with narrow beds or cots for each individual and little privacy.
Built in 1880 as an artist summer house and studio, it is a good local example of Stick style architecture. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. [ 1 ] It has been rehabilitated by the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC), and now serves as a bunkhouse as part of its Crawford Notch Highland Center.
