The Reverend W. Graham Pulkingham (September 14, 1926 – April 16, 1993) [1] was the rector at the Church of the Redeemer in Houston, Texas, U.S.A., from 1963 until 1975. [2] [3] He and his wife Betty began the developments that led to the founding of the Community of Celebration and the worship band The Fisherfolk.
Rev. Pulkingham drew around him a group of lay elders, including Lawyer Jerry Barker, Doctor Robert Eckert, Houston Light & Power lineman John Grimmett, and men from a variety of business backgrounds: Ladd Fields, Andy Austin. During the 1970s, young adults drawn to the worship were invited to live in extended family households.
Gethsemane Lutheran Church is a historic Lutheran church in downtown Austin, Texas. It is designated as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places along with the neighboring Luther Hall. The building currently houses the offices of the Texas Historical Commission.
