Following the Tournament of Power, a mysterious figure named Fu, who after kidnapping Future Trunks, lures Goku and Vegeta to the Prison Planet, an experimental area which Fu created and has filled with strong warriors from different planets and eras in order to force them into a game where they must collect the seven Special Dragon Balls if they wish to escape with their lives.
As the others recover, Jiren and Hit go after Hearts again, while Goku suggests that he and Vegeta use the Fusion Dance to make themselves strong enough to take on Hearts' new power. Trunks, Piccolo, and 17 rejoin the battle to buy time, while Goku and Vegeta perform the dance successfully and fuse into Gogeta.
Frieza and Goku continue their protracted battle with Frieza landing more blows on Goku than can be returned. Unable to match Frieza's raw power, Goku manages to withstand and dodge Frieza's attacks. Goku and Vegeta notice that Frieza is progressively losing stamina and that his power level is dropping. Frieza himself fails to notice this.
Buu temporarily absorbs Gotenks to increase his own power, but Vegeta and Goku are able to retrieve him from Buu. When Buu destroys the Earth, Goten and Trunks are killed. The Dragon Balls later bring Goten back to life along with the rest of the Earth in order to give energy to Goku's Genki-Dama attack, which defeats Buu.
