Allatoona is down maybe 15ft, with some heavy stain. Kind of muddy in the creeks but cleaner on the main Lake. Creeks are cooler than the main lake as well. Bass are scattered, some deep and some shallow. Baitfish and hard cover are key to locating them. The fish are relating more to rock than any soft bottom and shell beds and they're using ...

Just moved to the area. Need input on better lake for striper fishing - Allatoona or Lanier. Hearring Lanier is better overall. Any inputs? They are both pretty good striper lakes, since you live in marietta, I would go with allatoona if I was going to master one. Thats just me as I hate wasting time on the highway.
Senior Member. Look at the area of "run off" for Allatoona verses Lanier. Toona's is much larger for a lake of it's size. They could almost drain the lake and it still would be at full pool at the first of Spring. Lanier's "run off" is smaller for it's size.
Try lake acworth and kellogg creek. I have been looking for a long time and it's not easy. Lake Acworth can have some good bank fishing at times. It's been awhile, but I have gotten into some spots and hybrids before at the kellogg creek ramp and back in the creek there. There is also usually a fish on the rocks by the bridge right there.

The section above Allatoona is generally referred to as the 'Upper Etowah' and the river below Allatoona down to Rome is usually just 'the Etowah'. There's a population of White Bass in Lake Weiss that migrates up the Coosa/Etowah around Rome and the Allatoona population. Also with migratory fish, reports often name the tributary if a lake has ...
