Near the end of the war, professional hockey returned to Portland in the form of the Portland Eagles. The team was less successful than the Buckaroos and played its final season in 1951. The Brooklyn Aviators were a professional ice hockey team based in Brooklyn, New York. The team was a member of the Federal Hockey League and was affiliated with the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers. The Aviators played their home games at the Aviator Sports and Events Center in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. [1]
The Brooklyn Aces are a defunct minor professional ice hockey team that played the 2008-09 season in the Eastern Professional Hockey League. They played their home games at the 2,500 seat Aviator Arena. On June 17, 2008 the Brooklyn Aces announced Chris Firriolo as the team's first head coach. [1]
Brooklyn ended up with a terrible record, winning just 5 of their 45 games. During their lone season, the team was coached by 5 different people, all of whom were on temporary loan from the New York Rangers. Among that group were the team's leading scorer, Hank D'Amore, as well as Hockey Hall of Famers Frank Boucher and Lester Patrick.
