The Queensland Solo Championship is a motorcycle speedway championship held annually in Queensland to determine the Queensland State speedway champion. The event is organised by the Motorcycling Queensland and is sanctioned by Motorcycling Australia (MA). [1] Josh Grajczonek head the list of Championship wins with eight. [2]
Queensland Raceway is located with the bounds of the Ipswich Motorsport Precinct, which is also home to the Willowbank Raceway dragstrip, a kart track, a short dirt circuit and a junior (under-16) motorcycle speedway. The track is also located near RAAF Base Amberley and shares the base's 6 km (3.7 mi) noise exclusion zone.
The Australia national speedway team are one of the major teams in international motorcycle speedway with the country regarded as the birthplace of the sport in the 1920s. The track has been a significant venue for important motorcycle speedway events, including qualifying rounds of the Speedway World Championship (the first in 1982). [4] [5] It has also held the final of the Australian Solo Championship in 1985 and 1986 [6] and the Queensland Solo Championship on eleven occasions from 1976 to 2018. [7]
