The city of Loves Park was incorporated in 1947. [4] When the city's economy was negatively affected by the early 1980s recession, City Hall was moved from the Grand Avenue fire station into the Marshall Middle School to save money. [5] In 2001, Danfoss moved their plant from Rockford to Loves Park, becoming one of the town's largest employers. [6]
Other municipalities in the township include Stickney (pop. 7,110) [4] and Forest View (pop. 792), [5] and the largely industrial eastern half of Bedford Park, as well as some small portions of Bridgeview. The unincorporated communities of Central Stickney and Nottingham Park are also within the township.
As of the 2020 census [1] there were 18,609 people, 7,590 households, and 4,797 families residing in the township. The population density was 3,975.43 inhabitants per square mile (1,534.92/km 2).
The 14.7-acre (5.9 ha) Veeck Park is Hinsdale's skate park and contains a baseball field, 4 soccer/football fields, a playground, an awning for shelter in case it rains, and a sandbox by the playground. The 8.3-acre (3.4 ha) Brook Park has a ball field, a football/soccer field, a playground apparatus, and four tennis courts.
