The women's artistic team all-around competition, one of six events for female competitors in artistic gymnastics at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, was held at the Baths of Caracalla from 6 to 8 September. It was the 6th appearance of the event.
Women have competed in artistic gymnastics at the Olympic Games since 1928. [1] While many women artistic gymnasts have competed in multiple Olympic Games, only five have competed in at least four separate Games: Oksana Chusovitina (8), Daniele Hypólito (5), Olga Tass (4), Vanessa Ferrari (4), [ 2 ] and Ellie Black (4).
This is a list of the gymnasts who represented their country at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome from 25 August to 11 September 1960. Only one discipline, artistic gymnastics , was included in the Games.
At the 1960 Summer Olympics, fourteen different artistic gymnastics events were contested, eight for men and six for women. All events were held in the Baths of Caracalla in Rome from September 5 through 10th. [1]
The gymnastics format continued to use the aggregation format. Each nation entered either a team of six gymnasts or up to three individual gymnasts. All entrants in the gymnastics competitions performed both a compulsory exercise and a voluntary exercise for each apparatus. The 8 exercise scores were summed to give an individual all-around total.
