The State Range Trail begins at the lodge and continues 3.1 miles (5.0 km) to the col between Gothics and Saddleback, then turns up Saddleback for the final 0.6 miles (0.97 km) to the top. The saddle-shaped ridge between the two peaks is 0.2 miles (0.32 km). [5] Saddleback can also be hiked as part of a complete hike of the Great Range. [6]
The Trail to Holy Jim Falls. More than one trail leads to the top of Santiago Peak, but the most popular among hikers is the Holy Jim trail. The Holy Jim trail gains about 4,000 feet (1,200 m) in elevation and is a 16-mile (26 km) round trip.
On the clearest days, Saddleback is visible from most of the Greater Los Angeles area. Santiago Peak is the highest peak in the range and the highest point in the county at 5,689 ft (1,734 m). [2] Modjeska Peak is the second highest at 5,496 ft (1,675 m). The two peaks form part of the border between Orange and Riverside counties.

The ADK Range Trail crosses the summit of Gothics, and can be reached from several other trails which intersect with it. The most direct route is on the Orebed Brook Trail, which begins at John Brook Lodge and reaches a junction with the ADK Range Trail and State Range Trail at the col between Saddleback Mountain and Gothics.
Saddleback Butte State Park is a state park in the Antelope Valley of the western Mojave Desert, in Southern California. It is located east of Lancaster , north of the community of Lake Los Angeles , and south of Edwards in the unincorporated community of Hi Vista .
There are no trails that lead to the lakes, although they are most easily accessed from Sawtooth National Forest trail 154. [1] The Saddleback Lakes are in the Sawtooth Wilderness, and a wilderness permit can be obtained at a registration box at trailheads or wilderness boundaries. The mountain known as Elephants Perch is to the north of the lakes.
Oregon's State Land Board was given 1,402 acres (567 ha) by the federal government on August 11, 1916, to be set aside for use as a park around Saddle Mountain. [3] On November 21, 1928, the state highway commission, who at that time operated Oregon's state parks, received 1,280 acres (520 ha) as a gift from Nellie and O. W. Taylor to use for a park. [3]
