The Bangladesh Accreditation Board was established on 6 September 2006 by the government of Bangladesh through an act of parliament. [1] [4] The United Nations Industrial Development Organization hired a French-Canadian consultant, Ned Gravel, to improve the practices in the board and this was done under a project funded by the European Union. The council is established under the Bangladesh Accreditation Council Act, 2017, [4] which was passed by the Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) in March 2017. Mesbahuddin Ahmed was appointed the first chairman of the council in August 2018. [5]
