Ocotlán (from the Nahuatl ocotl ("pine tree"), meaning "place of pines") is a city in the Mexican state of Tlaxcala, located in the centre of that state within the conurbation of the state capital, Tlaxcala de Xicohténcatl.
It is on the northeast end of Lake Chapala, Mexico's largest lake. As of 2010, the city had a population of 92,967. [ 7 ] The municipality of Ocotlán, which has an area of 247.7 km 2 (95.64 sq mi), as of 2020 had a population of 184,603 inhabitants, of which 50.9% were women and 49.1% were men.
