"Head over Heels" is a song by the all-female pop rock/new wave band the Go-Go's, released in 1984 as the first single from their third studio album, Talk Show. The song was written by band members Charlotte Caffey and Kathy Valentine , and produced by English record producer Martin Rushent .
The Go-Go's are an American all-female rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1978. [1] Except for short periods when other musicians joined briefly, the band has had a relatively stable lineup consisting of Charlotte Caffey on lead guitar and keyboards, Belinda Carlisle on lead vocals, Gina Schock on drums, Kathy Valentine on bass, and Jane Wiedlin on rhythm guitar.
The song's music video, co-directed by Mary Lambert and Chris Gabrin, [2] featured a starring role for the then-up-and-coming actor Rob Lowe. [3] The band members play suit-clad men (except for drummer Gina Schock, who is wearing a colorful dress) as they perform the song at a formal teen dance which appears to be taking place in the early to mid-1960s.
"Our Lips Are Sealed" is a song co-written by Jane Wiedlin, guitarist of the Go-Go's, and Terry Hall, singer of the Specials and Fun Boy Three. It was first recorded by the Go-Go's as the opening track on their album Beauty and the Beat (1981) and was their debut American single in June 1981.
Released in 1966, it reached No. 2 on the American Rhythm & Blues Singles chart, No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 [2] and No. 9 on the Canadian Singles Chart. [3] The session was arranged by Funk Brother Mike Terry, as the Funk Brothers, Motown's house band, played behind the Capitols on the track.
The song was co-written by the Go-Go's guitarist Jane Wiedlin and Ron and Russell Mael of the Los Angeles band Sparks. Wiedlin and Sparks also recorded together in 1983, with Wiedlin providing vocals for two tracks on Sparks' album In Outer Space : album track "Lucky Me, Lucky You" and the band's highest charting U.S. single " Cool Places ".

The song's music was based on "Fetch Me One More Beer" by the Los Angeles-based punk rock band Fear, written by the band's guitarist Philo Cramer and John Clancy. [7] Bobby and Larson Paine, who were managing the Go-Go's, reworked the song with new lyrics and gave it to them, but after a falling out forbade them from playing it and gave it to Josie Cotton. [2]
