The part of Wisconsin that Waukesha County occupies was a part of Michigan Territory when Milwaukee County was organized in September 1834. [6] On July 4, 1836, the Wisconsin Territory was formed, which included land that is now in the state of Minnesota. [6] In January 1846, part of Milwaukee County was split off into Waukesha County.
The 82nd Assembly district of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. [1] Located in southeast Wisconsin , the district is entirely contained within central Waukesha County , including most of the city of Waukesha and part of the village of Waukesha . [ 2 ]
The district also contains Waukesha County Technical College, Brookfield Square mall, and Capitol Airport. [2] The district is represented by Republican Dave Maxey, since January 2023. [3] The 15th Assembly district is located within Wisconsin's 5th Senate district, along with the 13th and 14th Assembly districts. [4]
