Versailles is historical drama television series, set during the construction of the Palace of Versailles during the reign of Louis XIV. A co production between France, Canada, the United Kingdom and United States, the series premiered on 16 November 2015 on Canal+ in France and on Super Channel in Canada in May 2016 on BBC Two in Britain, and on 1 October 2016 on Ovation in the United States.
Four pavilions were built for the Secretaries of State in 1671. Jules Hardouin-Mansart had the Ministers' wings built on the basis of these pavilions in 1679. The Fresh pavilion, Fresh salon [note 1] or Pavillon frais (in French) is a folly built for Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour by Ange-Jacques Gabriel in the French Garden of the Petit Trianon, in the grounds of the Château de Versailles.
In appearance, Le Roy's Chateau de Versailles is not dissimilar from Francois Mansard's designs for the Château de Maisons. A near contemporary of the Versailles chateau, the construction of Maisons is considered a defining moment in French architecture's movement towards the Baroque style. Little more is known of Le Roy's personal life.
