LaSalle or La Salle is a city in LaSalle County, Illinois, United States, located at the intersection of Interstates 39 and 80. It is part of the Ottawa, IL Micropolitan Statistical Area . Originally platted in 1837 over one square mile (2.6 square kilometers), the city's boundaries have grown to 12 sq mi (31 km 2 ).

Peru is a city in LaSalle and Bureau counties, Illinois, United States. The population was 9,896 at the 2020 census, down from 10,295 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Ottawa, IL Micropolitan Statistical Area. Peru and its twin city, LaSalle, make up the core of Illinois Valley.
LaSalle Township is located in LaSalle County, Illinois. As of the 2010 census, its population was 13,565 and it contained 6,356 housing units. [ 2 ] LaSalle Township was formed from Peru Township on an unknown date.
The city is at the head of a rapids in the Illinois River historically known as "the Grand Rapids" or the "Rapids of Maninumba". [ 6 ] According to the 2010 census, Marseilles has a total area of 9.206 square miles (23.84 km 2 ), of which 8.72 square miles (22.58 km 2 ) (or 94.72%) is land and 0.486 square miles (1.26 km 2 ) (or 5.28%) is water.
Allen Township is one of thirty-seven townships in LaSalle County, Illinois, USA. As of the 2010 census, its population was 584 and it contained 259 housing units. [2] Allen Township was formed from Bruce Township on an unknown date. The township bears the name of Allen Stevens, a pioneer settler. [3]
Frederick Matthiessen became mayor of LaSalle and focused on civic improvements, helping bring about the LaSalle-Peru Horse and Dummy Railway and personally paying for the city waterworks, electrical light station, first library, high school buildings, and hygienic institute.
