[1] However, the steel works ceased operation only 6 years later, and were acquired by Karl Röchling. in 1881, construction on a blast furnace for producing iron began, and two years later the first smelter began operation. Saarland (German: [ˈzaːʁ̞lant] ⓘ, Luxembourgish: [ˈzaːlɑnt]; French: Sarre) is a state of Germany in the southwest of the country. With an area of 2,570 km 2 (990 sq mi) and population of 990,509 in 2018, it is the smallest German state in area apart from the city-states of Berlin, Bremen, and Hamburg, and the smallest in population apart from Bremen. Saarländisches Zweiradmuseum is a motorcycle museum in Saarland, Germany. The owners of the site of the museum, Villeroy & Boch closed the museum on September 30, 2007. They planned to build a factory outlet center on the premises. [1] The museum announced that they would seek a new location, probably at the Völklingen Ironworks. [2]
