The 2024 Waterford Senior Hurling Championship was the 124th staging of the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Waterford County Board in 1897. The draws for the group stage pairings was made on 29 January 2024. [1] The championship is scheduled to run from 19 July to September 2024.
The Waterford County Championship is an integral part of the wider Munster Senior Club Hurling Championship. The winners of the Waterford county final join the champions of the other hurling counties to contest the provincial championship. Twelve teams currently participate in the Waterford County Championship.

A theme of the 2024 championship, as in previous years, was the ongoing individual battle for the top championship scorer of all time between Patrick Horgan and T. J. Reid. Horgan's haul of 12 points in the final against Clare made him the top scorer for 2024 and also brought his career tally to 716, overtaking Reid's current career total of 706.
Sheahan first played for Waterford as a member of the minor team in 2012. [7] He didn't feature for the under-21 team but was a member of the senior team's extended panel when they were beaten by Limerick in the 2020 All-Ireland final. [8] Sheahan made his debut in a National Hurling League game against Westmeath in May 2021. [9]
