National Textile Corporation is a central public sector undertaking under the ownership of Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. [1] It owns 23 working textile mills which produce yarn and fabric. The company was incorporated in April 1968.
A new manufacturing facility was set up at Jalgaon (Maharashtra) during the year 1979 to meet the increasing demand for worsted woollen fabrics. In the year 2000, Vijaypat Singhania handed over his company to his younger son Gautam Singhania and in the year 2015, he gave 37.57% of the total shares to him.
The company was founded in 1994 by Sunder Genomal and his brothers Nari and Ramesh, and together they hold a 54% stake in it. It has 14 operational manufacturing plants in India- 5 in Bangalore , 3 in Hassan , 2 in Mysore and 1 each in Tiptur , Gauribidanur , Tiruppur and K.R. Pet as of March 2024.
