Chelmsford Football Club was established in 1878 by members of the Chelmsford Lawn Tennis and Croquet club to give them something to do in the winter. [2] Six years earlier, an attempt to form a football club by the same name had been proposed by Chelmsford West End Cricket Club, but the plans failed to materialise. [3]

Signs on buses can now be seen saying "Chelmsford City Council" and the website says Chelmsford City Council. Iamred0 Talk to Iamred... 00:46, 10 June 2012 (UTC) The website is a fair point - it didn't appear to have changed when I looked, although I was possibly looking at the wrong site and both the old and new were on the web at the same time.
