The brewery, though, ran at near capacity while it served under Heileman and rivaled the La Crosse brewery in efficiency. Along with its own brand, the Brewery brewed Heileman's flagship brand Old Style, as well as Blatz, Grain Belt and Hauenstein. By 1981, Heileman was the fourth largest brewing company in the country.
Kingsbury's main offices remained in Manitowoc until 1963, when it merged with G. Heileman Brewing Company, which brewed and distributed Kingsbury label products until 1974. The Geo. Wiedemann Brewing Company of Newport, Kentucky, brewed and sold Kingsbury Beer and Kingsbury Near Beer between 1967 and 1983.

In 1999 the old G. Heileman Brewing Company's former brewery buildings in La Crosse were bought by a group of investors who founded the City Brewing Company. [2] This brought the brewing facility back in name only to 1858 when German immigrants John Gund and Gottlieb Heileman originally founded the G.Heileman Brewing Company in La Crosse.
Heileman's brands were acquired by Stroh Brewing Co. in 1996. In 1999, Stroh's closed and its Schmidt's-related brands were sold to Pabst. As of 2019, a "Schmidt" beer was produced by Pabst, but its packaging was derived entirely from the Minnesota beer. Some other old Schmidt's of Philadelphia brands are still owned by Pabst.
