Eau Gallie (/ ˌ oʊ ˈ ɡ æ l i /) [1] is a neighborhood in the city of Melbourne, Florida, located on the city's northern side. It was an independent city in Brevard County from 1860 until 1969. That year residents of Eau Gallie and Melbourne voted to merge their governments. [ 2 ]

The Karrick Building is a historic U.S. building located at 1490 Highland Avenue, Eau Gallie, Florida. The building was constructed in 1924 by Jesse Karrick and it was used as a general merchandise and grocery store until 1963. [5] Jesse Karrick was the first proprietor of the store and also served as the first fire chief of Eau Gallie. [5]
On the western side, the road continues through downtown Melbourne as Strawbridge Avenue. Each July 4, the bridge is closed for a fireworks show. There are two bridges in Melbourne, the Melbourne Causeway and the Eau Gallie Causeway With the latter being named for the old city of Eau Gallie, which merged with Melbourne in 1969.

Florida State Road 5054, known locally as Sarno Road, is a 1.4-mile-long (2.3 km) east–west highway in central Melbourne, Florida (formerly Eau Gallie). Its western terminus is at Florida State Road 518, a half mile east of I-95; its eastern terminus is an intersection with Wickham Road and Sarno Road. The road is completely unsigned.
The street near the site of the lynching, around Parkway Drive and U.S. 1 in what is now Melbourne, Florida was named Lynching Tree Drive until 1980, when the black community petitioned the Melbourne City Council to change the name, which was then changed to Legendary Lane.
