"Outshined" is a song by American rock band Soundgarden. Written by the band's frontman Chris Cornell, the song was released as the third single from their third studio album, Badmotorfinger (1991). It became the band's first song to reach the U.S. Mainstream Rock charts, where it peaked at number 45.

Soundgarden was an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1984 by singer and drummer Chris Cornell, lead guitarist Kim Thayil, and bassist Hiro Yamamoto. Cornell switched to rhythm guitar in 1985, replaced on drums initially by Scott Sundquist, and later by Matt Cameron in 1986.
In 1990, the band was joined by a new bassist, Ben Shepherd. The new line-up released Badmotorfinger in 1991. The album brought the band to a new level of commercial success, and Soundgarden found itself amidst the sudden popularity and attention given to the Seattle music scene. The band's next album was to be its breakthrough.
