Lake Neuchatel is situated at the foot of the Jura mountain range, on the Swiss Plateau. Mainly in the French-speaking Swiss Romande , it borders the territory of four cantons: Neuchâtel (86 km 2 (33 sq mi)), Vaud (74 km 2 (29 sq mi)), Fribourg (53 km 2 (20 sq mi)) and Bern (2 km 2 (0.77 sq mi)).

La Tène is a protohistoric archaeological site on the northern shore of Lake Neuchâtel, Switzerland.Dating to the second part of the European Iron Age it is the type site of the La Tène culture, which dates to about 450 BCE to the 1st century BCE and extends from Ireland to Anatolia and from Portugal to Czechia.
Estavayer-le-Lac (French: [ɛstavaje l(ə) lak]; [2] Arpitan: Estavalyér-le-Lèc, locally Thavalyi-le-Lé [3] [θavaˈʎi lə ˈle] ⓘ) is a former Swiss municipality of the canton of Fribourg, situated on the south shore of Lake Neuchâtel. Estavayer-le-Lac is located between Yverdon and Bern. It is the capital of the district of Broye.

It is also located in the Jura mountainous region. To its northeast it borders the canton of Bern, to the northwest France (Bourgogne-Franche-Comté).
It is located at the northeastern tip of Lake Neuchâtel at an elevation of 455 meters. It lies close to Biel/Bienne, at the boundary between French- and German-speaking regions, and at a knot of highways. It was part of the district of Neuchâtel, until the district level was eliminated on 1 January 2018. [6]
