The LDS Church has 367 temples in various phases, which includes 202 dedicated temples (193 operating and 9 previously-dedicated, but closed for renovation [1]), 3 scheduled for dedication, 51 under construction, 2 scheduled for groundbreaking, [2] and 112 others announced (not yet under construction). [3]
The temple is then dedicated as a "House of the Lord," after which only members twelve years of age and older [1] who hold a valid temple recommend are permitted to enter. Weekly worship services are not held in temples, but ordinances that are part of Latter-day Saint worship are performed within temples.

In 2008, a temple was announced for Calgary by church president Thomas S. Monson. The Calgary Alberta Temple was dedicated in October 2012. As of December 31, 2021, the LDS Church reported 199,534 members, 53 stakes, 352 wards, 4 districts , 147 branches, 6 missions , 9 temples, and 152 Family History Centers in Canada .
