First Protestant Church is a historic church at the corner of Seguin and W Coll Streets in New Braunfels, Texas. It was built in 1875 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1971. See also
Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Dallas, Texas was the longest continuously operating Protestant congregation founded within the city limits of Dallas, at the time of its permanent closure in 2021. It had been founded in a room above a blacksmith shop in 1863, as the Civil War raged.

[1] Today, 46.5% of the United States population is either Mainline Protestant, Evangelical Protestant, or a Black church attendee.
In many parts of the U.S. they formed Czech congregations within the Presbyterian Church. Some who settled as farmers in the state of Texas decided to form their own denomination. Jindřich Juren (1850–1921) came to Texas in 1876, and from 1881 to 1888 was the only minister to these Brethren congregations.

Lady Bird Johnson presented the church with a stone from St. Barnabas Church in Cyprus that she had received from Archbishop Makarios on a 1962 visit to the island nation. Mrs. Johnson was a member of St. Barnabas in Fredericksburg, which became the Texas home church for the Johnsons. The President took communion there. [93] [94] [95] [96]
