The new AR 40-501 (dated 22 DEC 2016), has been released in the medical channels. I haven't seen it published on a public Army site. If I see a link, I'll push it forward. It is on the APD.army.mil website which is publicly accessible for 19 more days. It's stupid that the Army is hiding these unclassified/non FOUO publications behind CAC walls.

The final examining MD Chief, Soldier Readiness stated in his letter that it was his opinion after examination and review that DS does not fail appointment standard under AR 40-501 para 2-23d, AR 40-501 para 2-27k, and AR 40-501 para 2-30j. The MD's letter includes paragraphs to explain his position on why he recommends medical waiver.

I did all the tests and it is benign, I'm asymptomatic, and I don't need any medication and my TSH levels are normal, but I was told I would need a medical waiver. I am frustrated because according to the Army regulation 40-501 that we go off of, there is nothing in there that says a benign thyroid nodule is a disqualifier.

AR 40-501, para 2-4 specifically says current or history of coagulation defects does not meet the standards. @allison_1233 You're file is probably undergoing a medical determination right now at Cadet Command. I'm not saying the Command surgeon will or will not determine you meet medical standards for commissioning.
