The new AR 40-501 (dated 22 DEC 2016), has been released in the medical channels. I haven't seen it published on a public Army site. If I see a link, I'll push it forward. It is on the APD.army.mil website which is publicly accessible for 19 more days. It's stupid that the Army is hiding these unclassified/non FOUO publications behind CAC walls.

There is no medical connection between anxiety drugs and academic performance. The Standards of Medical Fitness (AR 40-501) clearly states the "demonstrate passing academic performance" requirement is for ADHD. Nowhere is a similar requirement mandated for anxiety meds. The reason for this is simple - having ADHD in and of itself is not a DQ ...

I did all the tests and it is benign, I'm asymptomatic, and I don't need any medication and my TSH levels are normal, but I was told I would need a medical waiver. I am frustrated because according to the Army regulation 40-501 that we go off of, there is nothing in there that says a benign thyroid nodule is a disqualifier.

Hello, My son recently was dq'd from USAFA and West Point because his left eye only corrects to ~ 20/50. His right eye is 20/20 or maybe even 20/15 uncorrected (perfect vision). I have read online that for ROTC, the requirement is corrected to 20/20 in one eye and 20/100 in the other...

AR 40-501, para 2-4 specifically says current or history of coagulation defects does not meet the standards. @allison_1233 You're file is probably undergoing a medical determination right now at Cadet Command. I'm not saying the Command surgeon will or will not determine you meet medical standards for commissioning.
