The Cameo Theatre is a historic former movie theater on Broadway in Los Angeles, California. Opened by film mogul W. H. Clune as Clune's Broadway Theatre in 1910, it was one of the first purpose-built movie theaters in the United States. It remained the oldest continually operating movie theater in Los Angeles until its closure in 1991.
The John H. Judson-Rives Building, originally the Broadway Central Building, [3] was designed by Charles Ronald Aldrich and built in 1906. [2]In 1928, Judson Rives took over ownership of the building, at which point the building was renamed after him. [3]
The movie was based on the real Japanese Akita dog Hachikō, who was born in Ōdate, Japan, in 1923. After the death of his owner, Ueno Hidesaburō , in 1925, Hachikō returned to the Shibuya train station the next day and every day after that for the next nine years until he died in March 1935.
