Hickman Mills is a neighborhood of Kansas City, Missouri in the Kansas City metropolitan area. There is good access to the Interstate and Federal highway system, with I-435, I-470, and US-71/I-49 running through the area, including the Grandview Triangle. It also includes Longview Lake and Longview Community College.
In the North Kansas City area, Military Road was renamed Barry Road in 1829 after the newly established town of Barry, which in turn is named after the postmaster-general William Taylor Barry. The road remained comarked Highway 152. A short extension of Barry Road, identified as Highway 152, was created between 1980 and 1982.
As the growth continued, the Waldo area became a main traffic artery of south Kansas City. Houses on Wornall Road south to 75th Street made way for continued business expansion in the 1930s. The Waldo Water Tower , located near 75th and Holmes, is a local landmark and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places . [ 3 ]
Troost Avenue was continuously developed from 1834 into the 1990s. From the 1880s to 1920s, many prominent white Kansas Citians (including ophthalmologist Flavel Tiffany, Governor Thomas Crittenden, banker William T. Kemper, and MEC, S pastor James Porter) resided in mansions along what had been a farm-to-market road.
