The following is a non-exhaustive list of standardized tests that assess a person's language proficiency of a foreign/secondary language. Various types of such exams exist per many languages—some are organized at an international level even through national authoritative organizations, while others simply for specific limited business or study orientation.
PTE Young Learners (formerly known as LTEfC) is an English language exams for young children (aged from 7 to 12) who learning English as a foreign language. They test the four skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. PTE Young Learners exams are based around the adventures of the Brown family.
Therefore, those tests initially focused on secondary–school–leaving, e.g., GCE A–Levels in the UK, or French Baccalaureate, are not listed here, although they function as the de facto admission tests in those countries (see list of secondary school leaving certificates).

However, there are also many schools run by expatriates that are equally successful with their own grading system, or an accepted grading system of the country where the schools are affiliated to or share common standards with.
