Richard Joseph Jensen (born October 24, 1941) is an American historian. He was a professor of history at the University of Illinois, Chicago, from 1973 to 1996.He has worked on American political, social, military, and economic history as well as historiography and quantitative and computer methods.
He previously was awarded a distinguished chair within the history department, serving as Seymour Logan Professor of History and North American Studies between 1998 and 2001. Reed received his B.A. and M.A. in American history from Roosevelt and completed his doctoral studies in American history at Kent State University in 1982.
