I want to save Windows 11 Spotlight pictures that show up in Background and Lock Screen. When I go to the Windows file: Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets, the folder is empty. Where are the Lock Screen/Background images stored if they are not in this folder? My understanding is they are supposed to be there.

Some of the shortcuts on my desktop and start menu are missing their images. For example I have the Windows Live icon that is pinned to the taskbar but it is showing the default MS OS image (the one when the OS does not reconize the file the shortcut targets). Six out of 8 icons on my desktop are missing their images. The shortcuts work fine.
Hi Bob, Please follow these steps: 1. Right click to your desired Photo 2. Click "Properties" where you can find at the most bottom part option.
3. The directory where Windows downloads and stores the images will open. So that we can work with the them, select all the files in this folder and copy them to a new folder on your desktop. 4. You'll notice these files don't have an extension to them. We need to add the .jpg extension to these files so that they will open in a photo viewer.
Before upgrading to Win10 I set both users on this PC to get background images from my own, shared folder. This changed at various times so the users may have got out of step. On Win 7 the personalisation screen showed the folder being used. I need to check which folder both usernames are using as the source of background images.
I hope to explain this right. Everything was working great. This happened after my computer did a update a few days ago and now my pictures preview are not showing just the generic icon shows.

When you set custom desktop wallpaper, it remains unsaved in the My themes section. After you change the wallpaper it automatically replaces the previous one with the new wallpaper which you have set.
