There exists no portable air conditioning unit for cars. Your car already has the ductwork and the fusebox AC capability, but you’d need to add as a minimum a compressor, a condensor (in many cars it’s a part of the radiator, in many it’s a seperate small radiator), and an evaporator, as well as the control panel.
The system has been like this for years now so air, moisture, etc. has likely contaminated everything. I found several lifetime warranty compressor kits that include everything but the two lines. They are barely more than just the compressor which only comes with a 2 year warranty. This comes to about $280.
“I had the car for about 4 years now, and the air conditioner had been all right when I first bought it, but it has been progressively getting warmer.” Since the performance of the system seems to have deteriorated, an automotive AC shop visit is in order. Only hands-on can the performance of the system be evaluated.
I have a 15 amp air compressor that does a terrific job keeping my air pressures to recommended levels however it frequently blows fuses in both my 2010 Highlander and my 2006 LS 430 Lexus. It appears that a direct connection to the battery is the only recourse. Are the adapters that permit direct connection of the compressor mail cigarette connector to the battery via a female cigarette ...
I know I’m using the right port. I am not using the high pressure port. And I can not for the life of me fit the hose onto the low pressure port to charge my ac. I pressed the cap down and tried to fit it on the low pressure, I’m doing everything right, and I cant figure out why it wont fit. If I press it down while holding down the lever on the hose I will hear pressure escaping from the ...
Only when A.C is on eyes, nose, and throat burns within seconds, doesn’t happen when just the air is on or heat, recently brought it to dealer and they changed cabin filter saying a rodent made a nest and the urine was what caused the eye burn, they said it was fine and their eyes weren’t burning any more, well a 2017 chevy 3500 with 3700 miles and it’s still doing it, originally thought ...
Adding to a 10-12 year old car is routine, but a 4-year-old car is rather young. Also, if the refrigerant is really low, the compressor won’t start. If the compressor won’t start, you cannot pump down the low side of the circuit so that you can add refrigerant from a can.
The engine is just sitting there, and suddenly it has to power another machine, the air conditioner. More ac, more gas consumed. Since a gallon of gasoline weighs about 8 pounds, the idea of it producing 20 pounds of carbon dioxide, leaving aside the water product of combustion, is, well, let’s just say “extraordinary” but a good way to ...
1996 Mazda Protege air conditioner died today in the lovely 2nd week of Kansas heat wave of over 100 degrees each day. Was replaced in 2006. What should be the approximate cost of the parts and labor to replace? Is it normal to have died after 8 years? It was a reconditioned one. Thankyou.
False. You won’t hurt anything by turning the air conditioner off. You also won’t hurt anything by leaving it on all the time. Run it when you’re too hot, or when the windows fog up. If you’re too cold, it’s just fine to turn it off.
