My Sound, video and game controllers and Audio inputs and outputs drivers completely disappeared after 20H2 update! So now I can't play any sound. I have an Asus Vivobook 15, the update was installed a few days ago first, the same thing happened then. I tried various things but nothing worked so I rolled the system back to its previous state.
I accidentally uninstalled my audio driver from sound, video and game controllers and i want to reinstall it there. I've tried to reinstall the audio driver that my computer uses from the lenovo website but it couldn't install saying my computer doesn't have the sound card for it.
There is no category heading of 'sound video and game controllers' appearing in device manager. I have tried updating chipset drivers (no difference) and updating bios (won't let me). Advice please. Sound was working fine before I reset windows 10.
Now, my laptop is still with no sound (the red X on the audio icon) and also the "Sound, video and game controllers" disappeared from the Device Manager. I would love if someone helped me with this big problem. Thank you very much!
I just got this laptop recently, it's Windows 11 and right now it's saying that my laptop has detected no audio output and input drivers. Tried to fix it in the device manager but the supposedly sound, video, and game controller is non-existent. It doesn't show any tab regarding audio. I tried the legacy hardware install but it errors too.

After a Windows update the sound icon had a red "x" over it, and the troubleshooter doesn't help fising the problem. When you hover the mouse over the icon it says "no audio output device installed". I went into the device manager options and searched for "sound, video and games controllers" but it seems that this was also missing.
Sound, Video and Game Controllers is just a section in Device manager, it is not a device, what driver are you trying to install, is it an audio card or some other device? Where are you installing the driver from, is that from the support page for your PC on the manufacturers website?
