In 1942, Miller Municipal Airport was renamed and dedicated to Smith Reynolds, a pioneer in aviation before his death at the age of 20. From 1942 until 1945, Smith Reynolds Airport was a training base for military pilots in addition to its commercial and private airline services. [4]
