The Cottonwood-Oak Creek School District No. 6 (COCSD) is a school district in Arizona, United States, headquartered in Cottonwood. [2] The school district is located in Yavapai County, and includes almost all of Cottonwood municipality, all of Cornville and Verde Village census-designated places, and portions of Clarkdale municipality. Mingus Mountain (Yavapai: Hwa:lkyañaña) is a mountain located in the U.S. state of Arizona in the Black Hills mountain range. It is located within the Prescott National Forest traversed by State Route 89A approximately midway between Cottonwood and Prescott. The summit can be reached via Forest Service roads that branch off from State Route 89A.

The school district briefly took the "Union High School District" name, but this was changed to the present Mingus Union before the district became official. The high school was located in Clarkdale until 1960. From then until the start of the 1972 school year, it was housed in Jerome's school buildings. [7] It then moved to Cottonwood.
