House, also known as House, M.D., is an American medical drama series which premiered on Fox on November 16, 2004. House was created by David Shore. The show follows Dr. Gregory House (Hugh Laurie), an irascible, maverick medical genius who heads a team of diagnosticians at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital (PPTH) in New Jersey.
During the last day of the hearing, Dr. Colfield calls House brilliant but a fiasco; however, the patient's wife speaks up on House's behalf, saying House "saved my husband's life". At this point Colfield decides that House is an important part of the hospital and he would damage the hospital by sending him back to prison.
In the episode, House is forced to examine his life and future while treating a drug-addicted patient. The title references the series' first episode, "Everybody Lies", a phrase that also serves as House's mantra. House, believing the patient to be mirroring him, leaves the room. The patient, alone with Thirteen, said he was scared and it wasn't going to be alright. At the end of the episode, after House has made the diagnosis, Foreman suggests a playful experiment, and they put the treatment on hold and get Cuddy.
House's team discover unused Ampicillin and frozen microwave burgers, supporting House's diagnosis. An ultrasound of Lucille's liver reveals cirrhosis and a cancerous tumor . The tumor is too large to resect but House orders the team to shrink the tumor with an injection of ethanol so that the surgeon will operate.
Meanwhile, House trades barbs with an abrasive clinic patient, only to realize to his horror that she is Cuddy's mother Arlene (guest star Candice Bergen), come to check out her daughter's boyfriend. He lies in a futile attempt to avoid a dinner with Cuddy, Arlene, and Wilson, even though it is Cuddy's birthday.
House eventually determines that the patient has been eating a primarily vegetarian diet at the hospital, which in conjunction with Refsum disease has been causing his symptoms. House later marries Dominika in his apartment, with the rest of the team, Wilson, and Cuddy present as witnesses. Cuddy breaks down when House recites his vows.
House explains his reasoning about the disease not reaching the GI tract and orders the test anyway. The once-skeptical team is pleased when the test turns out positive, Ian is saved, and House finally discovers what killed Esther. The episode ends with House and Wilson playing poker and joking as they did in the beginning of the episode.
