The Mercury Eight is an automobile that was produced by the American manufacturer Ford Motor Company under their now defunct division Mercury between 1939 and 1951. The debut model line of the Mercury division, Ford positioned the full-size Mercury Eight between the Ford Deluxe (later Custom) model lines and the Lincoln.
All 1956 Mercury engines had gold-painted blocks and heads. The 210-horsepower version had red valve covers and air cleaner, while the 225-horsepower version had blue valve covers and air cleaner. The 235-horsepower version had argent silver valve covers and air cleaner. A dealer-installed "M 260" engine kit was released in January 1956.
From 1947 to 1952, Ford assembled F-Series trucks at 16 facilities across North America. In Canada, the model line was also marketed through Lincoln-Mercury as the Mercury M-Series to expand dealership coverage in rural areas. This generation of F-Series pickup trucks is the only generation to use entirely flathead engines (inline-6 and V8s).

The 1948–1953 255 cu in (4.2 L), referred to as the model BG, [citation needed] was achieved by use of a 4 in (100 mm) stroke crankshaft in the 239 cu in (3.9 L) 8BA/8RT engine. It was only used in Mercury cars, and heavy service trucks.
The 430 cu in (7.0 L; 7,044 cc) engine was produced from 1958 through 1965, and used in Ford, Mercury, and Lincoln products. It was the standard engine on all 1958 to 1960 Lincolns and Continentals. Power was 375 hp (280 kW) in 1958, 350 hp (261 kW) in 1959, 315 hp (235 kW) in 1960, 325 hp (242 kW) in 1961 and 340 hp (254 kW) in 1964.

The first cab over engine (COE) truck produced with a tilting cab by Ford, the C series replaced the C-series COE variant of the F-Series, produced since 1948. Produced as both a straight/rigid truck and a tractor, many versions of the C series were produced, ranging from Class 5 to Class 8 GVWRs .
