The Vortex lattice method, (VLM), is a numerical method used in computational fluid dynamics, mainly in the early stages of aircraft design and in aerodynamic education at university level. The VLM models the lifting surfaces, such as a wing , of an aircraft as an infinitely thin sheet of discrete vortices to compute lift and induced drag .

In fluid dynamics, the Lamb–Oseen vortex models a line vortex that decays due to viscosity. This vortex is named after Horace Lamb and Carl Wilhelm Oseen. [1] [2] Vector plot of the Lamb–Oseen vortex velocity field. Evolution of a Lamb–Oseen vortex in air in real time. Free-floating test particles reveal the velocity and vorticity pattern.
The Batchelor vortex is an approximate solution to the Navier–Stokes equations obtained using a boundary layer approximation. The physical reasoning behind this approximation is the assumption that the axial gradient of the flow field of interest is of much smaller magnitude than the radial gradient.
Continuous vortex sheet approximation by panel method. Roll-up of a vortex sheet due to an initial sinusoidal perturbation. Note that the integral in the above equation is a Cauchy principal value integral. The initial condition for a flat vortex sheet with constant strength is (,) =. The flat vortex sheet is an equilibrium solution.
Visualisation of the vortex street behind a circular cylinder in air; the flow is made visible through release of glycerol vapour in the air near the cylinder. In fluid dynamics, a Kármán vortex street (or a von Kármán vortex street) is a repeating pattern of swirling vortices, caused by a process known as vortex shedding, which is responsible for the unsteady separation of flow of a fluid ...
The external memory model is related to the cache-oblivious model, but algorithms in the external memory model may know both the block size and the cache size. For this reason, the model is sometimes referred to as the cache-aware model. [5] The model consists of a processor with an internal memory or cache of size M, connected to an unbounded ...
To change this template's initial visibility, the |state= parameter may be used: {{ Memory | state = expanded }} will show the template expanded, i.e. fully visible. {{ Memory | state = autocollapse }} will show the template autocollapsed, i.e. if there is another collapsible item on the page (a navbox, sidebar , or table with the collapsible ...
