A beach on the coast of Massachusetts on a foggy early spring day. This is a list of beaches in New England sorted by state then town. Beaches are not exclusively all on seashores but may also be located on lakes, rivers or other bodies of water.
The Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management limits its definition of the South Shore to the municipalities between Boston Harbor and Cape Cod, which includes Atlantic coastal and coastal watershed areas "from the three-mile (5 km) limit of the state territorial sea to 100 feet (30 m) beyond the first major land transportation route encountered (a road, highway, rail line, etc.)". [4]
Watson Pond State Park is a public recreation area occupying ten acres (4.0 ha) on the east side of Watson Pond in the northern portion of the city of Taunton, Massachusetts. The state park comprises a 300-foot (91 m) swimming beach, picnic area, bathhouse and pavilion. Fishing and non-motorized boating are offered.
Various smaller routes run through other parts of the city. These include a small portion of MA 104, close to the Taunton-Raynham city limits, and MA 79, close to the Taunton-Berkley-Lakeville (Plymouth County) city-town-county limits. Taunton is the western terminus of MA 104. It merges into US 44 after entering the city.
The major highways through the area are Interstate 195 (from Providence to Wareham, Massachusetts) and U.S. Route 6, which is the older route connecting Providence to Cape Cod. Highway access to Boston is provided by Route 24 and Route 79, both of which end in Fall River, and Route 140 which connects New Bedford to Route 24 in Taunton.

The neighborhood is served by East Taunton police precinct and the East Taunton Fire station.
It is the only span crossing the Taunton River between the Brightman Street Bridge between Somerset and Fall River, and the Plain Street Bridge in Taunton, a drive of 12 + 1 ⁄ 2 miles (20 km) (and 4 mi or 6 km south of the Plain Street Bridge).
