Nuneaton's borough status, which it had held since 1907, [4] was transferred to the enlarged district, allowing the chair of the council to take the title of mayor. [5] Following a campaign from Bedworth residents the borough's name was changed to "Nuneaton and Bedworth" with effect from 1 October 1980.

Bedworth (/ ˈ b ɛ d w ər θ / or locally / ˈ b ɛ d ər θ /) is a market town in the borough of Nuneaton and Bedworth, Warwickshire, England. [1] It is situated between Coventry , 6 miles (9.5 km) to the south, and Nuneaton , 3 miles (5 km) to the north.
At the time of its construction in the mid-1950s, Disneyland was in a remote area outside Anaheim, California. Walt Disney wanted to build a hotel for Disneyland visitors to stay overnight, since Disneyland was quite a drive from the established population centers of Southern California at the time, but Disney's financial resources were significantly depleted by the construction of the park.
The building was initially known as the "Council House", but was later renamed as the "Town Hall". [1] Local government reorganisation in 1974 merged the Borough of Nuneaton with the urban district of Bedworth, and the Town Hall became the headquarters of the newly constituted Nuneaton and Bedworth Council. [1]
