The Murugan Temple of North America is the first temple in the United States that is dedicated to the Hindu deity Murugan. [1] The temple is located in Lanham, Maryland, about 5 miles (8.0 km) from Washington, D.C. All the shrines of the temple are enclosed in large concentric rectangular granite walls. The temple has four daily rituals at various times from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and four yearly festivals on its calendar.
