In 2004, "Ekla Chalo Re"'s tune was used with Hindi lyrics composed by A.R Rahman and sung by Sonu Nigam in the movie Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero. In the 2012 Bollywood film Kahaani, it is sung by actor Amitabh Bachchan under music direction of Vishal–Shekhar.
Ghosh had an idea for using Rabindranath Tagore's poem "Ekla Chalo Re" as a song for the film. Vishal–Shekhar then tuned it arranged to suit the scenario, by incorporating a Gospel version of the song through Church choir so as to give a new flavour and avoided using an instrumental support, thereby becoming an a cappella number.
