Glengorm Castle, also known as Castle Sorne, is a 19th-century country house on the Isle of Mull, Scotland. Located in Mishnish, 6 kilometres (4 mi) northwest of Tobermory at the end of a dead end road, the house is protected as a Category B listed building. [1] The Mishnish estate was purchased in 1856 by James Forsyth of Quinish. [1]
Later, in 1688, the parish was divided at the narrow isthmus near Aros Castle, with north Mull becoming the new parish of Kilninian and Kilmore. The parish was named after the location of places of worship in use, rather than inheriting names directly from pre-reformation parishes.
An earlier chief of the MacLeans had married the daughter of the first Lord of the Isles and received Duart Castle as the dowry; this now became the stronghold of MacLean control of Mull. The cadet branch of the family constructed a tower house at Moy on the southern side of Mull, while the senior branch retained Duart Castle.

The majority of the townland is from a Protestant background and for the best part is a residential extension of Ballymena, a central Northern Ireland shopping town. The townland has two separate Orange Order lodges, Galgorm Loyal Orange Lodge and Galgorm Parks Loyal Orange Lodge Galgorm Castle
Powerscourt House terrace & fountain (1800s) During the 16th century the house came into the ownership of the Powerscourt family. The family rose in wealth and prominence, and in the 18th century Richard Wingfield, 1st Viscount Powerscourt, commissioned the architect Richard Cassels to extensively alter and remodel the medieval castle to create a modern country house.
The gardens, like the castle, are on a large scale, covering nearly 12 ha (29 + 1 ⁄ 2 acres). Terraced lawns around the castle overlook 18th century parkland. The adjoining woodland gardens and walled gardens date largely from the early 19th century and encompass a grotto of eroded limestone from nearby Lough Derravaragh and two ornamental lakes.
