St. Marys is a city in Camden County, Georgia, United States, located on the southern border of Camden County on the St. Marys River in the state's Low Country. It had a population of 18,256 at the 2020 census , up from 17,121 at the 2010 census .
The Georgia attorney general ruled that the tax arrangement between Gilman Paper Company and St. Marys was unconstitutional. The legislature passed a law requiring cities to use the county tax valuations, which are approved by the state, in determining city taxes. Gilman Paper Company's annual taxes in St. Marys rose from $45,000 to $227,000.
The center was the result of a collaboration between the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners, Gwinnett County Public Schools, the University of Georgia, and the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center Foundation. [1] It was created as an educational facility for Gwinnett County with a focus on environmental issues. [2]

The Elisha Winn House served as Gwinnett County's first courthouse. The Historic Gwinnett County Courthouse (no longer used). According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 437 square miles (1,130 km 2), of which 430 square miles (1,100 km 2) is land and 6.4 square miles (17 km 2) (1.5%) is water. [13]
Established by an act of the state legislature on December 5, 1792, and was incorporated in November 1802. It served as Camden County Georgia's seat of government from 1869 until 1923. [3] Orange Hall is a contributing property and is also on the NRHP individually. The St. Marys United Methodist Church was founded in 1799.
