Tarawera Ultramarathon is a trail running event which includes a 21km, 50km, 102km and a 100-mile ultramarathon trail race, with the inaugural event held in 2009, it is part of the Ultra-Trail World Tour. [1] It is held annually in February and takes place in Rotorua, New Zealand. Awards are given to top men and women finishers in each category.

Sandra May Barwick MBE (born 1949) is a New Zealand ultramarathon runner who set a new six-day track world record in Campbelltown, Australia, 18–24 November 1990.Covering 549 miles 110 yards in six days, Barwick set a record that was not broken until Camille Herron covered 560.330 miles in March 2024.
